The Importance of Data Consistency

The loss of consistency is a great source of complexity in our modern systems. If you don't have consistency, everything else gets more complex. And that's where database transaction isolation levels came from and kicks COBOL to try to recreate it. It actually worked very hard to retain and recreate a degree of consistency.
