Groves thought Oppenheimer was the one to lead this project. He could see an Oppie, the smarts and the charisma to bring all these scientists together in this secret city of Los Alamos. The average age of the scientists was 29; there were romances between boys and girls. There are a lot of martini glasses over there: ash trays.
