The LRDG, the Long Range Desert Group, the Forerunner of the SES
I joined the LRDG, which had just started, not really long before. The headquarters were at the time in Khufra, Science Southern Libya. It was largely reconnaissance, because nobody knew anything about the desert. And then also a road watch where we got up to a long way behind the front line and recorded what was going up towards the front.
