The DNA Discrepancy in Sherry's Story

Sherry Papini's clothing was sent off for DNA testing. Traces of unknown male DNA were found on both her underwear and sweatpants, but there was no female DNA. Investigators ran the profile through the National CODIS database, in which DNA profiles from crime scenes and known offenders are stored. There were no matches. If Sherry had been taken by two women with no one else involved, this didn't explain the DNA discrepancy. The hunt to find her abductors continued but the years passed by with no arrest. By 2020, the case had long faded from the headlines but it hadn't been forgotten by the Reading community who still wanted answers. Skepticism remained rife while fears
