There's clearly serious merit in using them for some kinds of research, right? Monkeys are useful because they have brains that are the most similar to human brains. The big problem is that there's no point studying the brain unless it's living and working. Some campaigners who want prames to be replaced entirely say that combination of simulating things on powerful computers would be more effective.
