Is Artificial Intelligence Developing Consciousness?
I agree with your statement that this is really the only way we can make progress. There have been some theories put forward by panpsychists about like Penrose's theory of quantum gravity or something like that, but it doesn't really address consciousness at all at this point. I'm not convinced that consciousness is solely a matter of information processing. And maybe, you know, as we learn more than potentially long time down the road, this could become something that we could put into a machine. But right now our current neural net ais are too simplistic.
