I think what was really critical for us is remembering like an interview is not going to suddenly give you the complete snapshot of someone else's life. We need to create the space to make sure that we are listening and never making the assumptions that if we ask 20 questions, then we'll empathize enough. It's the people who are actually experiencing having to navigate the benefit system that have the answers or maybe they don't have the answers,. But we're not here to validate or invalidate their lived experiences. And I know there are many people that I respect and learn from that have done a great job communicating that there's limitations to empathy.
