The Salamander Letter and the Cult of the Church

The Salamander letter was one of the things that just struck hard against the church's history. Martin Harris wrote a letter to Oliver Cowdery expressing that he had heard a story from Joseph Smith, that some white lizard white Salamander told him where to find some gold or some treasure. Some people have interpreted that to be like some type of electrocution or spiritual striking. And so all these militant Mormons that would have gotten a 50 person line to talk to you and tell you how you were wrong and they were right, that just gets thrown on the table and just shatters their worldview.
