The Irony of Unearned Positive Regard
Erasmus tried to propose what he called synergy that the human being and God were working together in a participatory fashion for salvation with God, of course, having the bulk of the work. And Luther rejects that utterly. So God has become, remember what we talked about in Occam, that God's will supersedes his reason. It is just an arbitrary act of will that saves us. This is the cultural training for narcissism. Unearned positive regard, not for any reason, not for anything you've done, completely amoral unearned positive regard. That's narcissism.
