In this story, he can't change the past or the future. It's interesting because he knows things about the past and the future. He like zaps forward and backwards in his own life. The timeline itself doesn't ever change,. just has these sort of loops and paths in it. So every time you encounter one of these branches, the same thing happens Because it's always the same conditions.
