Introduction

Rand: The process of forming and applying concepts contains the essential pattern of two fundamental methods of cognition, induction and deduction. What a pop hearing would say is that that claim is just a fundamental misunderstanding of how concept formation occurs. We only have access to ontology, to ultimate reality, to the facts of reality, via an epistemological process,. And the construction of knowledge merely represents our best understanding of reality - we're not getting to it. It's confusing our understanding of the thing with the thing in itself.
