The Importance of Diversity in Medical Schools
With fewer black and Latino students attending medical school, we're likely to see a worsening of racial bias within the medical field. Justice Sonia Sotomayor herself pointed out this issue in her powerful dissenting opinion. Studies have consistently shown that health outcomes for black and Latino patients tend to be better when they are treated by doctors who share their race or ethnicity.
