The Hallowed by Experience Argument for the King James Bible

The King James Bible is I think someone once said of the King James that it's the only work of art ever produced by committee. The whole point of this project is not to be some sort of, you know, esoteric, Gnostic endeavor, but rather to be something with civic purpose with with public consequence. And so translation therefore takes on a sacredness of its own. It's not merely instrumental. But even beyond that hallowed by experience argument, there is implicit with not explicit within the Bible itself, the idea that making the Bible understandable to an audience who might not otherwise have access to it is itself the point of the Bible.
