Are You on the Status Carousel?

Very few people live their entire life seeking just one sort of status, and the way that we measure status keeps changing. Technology is really the wild card here, because what technology keeps doing is shuffling who has status. If having more Twitter followers than your friends isn't worth the journey that it took to get there, abandon it. It's somebody else's metric, not yours, not anymore. You will never find a status to live on, to live in with everyone. The object is to find the smallest number of people for which you can be a generous contribution.
