i don't even buy the idea. Like, for one, i think the whole story's fake and made up. And i also think that, like, it would not be in a dictionary. It would have to have been an encyclopaedia,. What this term meant before is basically someone who gives money to burial of a dead person - and that dead person returns from the grave to help them in some way. I like, maybe we'll read some of these grateful dead folk tales if we have time, although i do doubt it. But, you know, it is a common, a tal topos, actually.
