I try to push back on conservatives who have this mannequin worldview that it is the left has certain essential traits that are abstract and not dependent on any particular issues. And my view is they say the same thing about us so let's not assume that these cognitive shortcuts and epistemological blind spots are uniquely possessed by the other side.
