The Importance of Targeting Poor People
Recruiters say they don't target low income people. They're trying to get in front of whatever middle class and even more elusively upper middle class kids they can, which is why they're here in Glen Ridge. The school had set up some brochures and a sign-up sheet but the hallways were empty. One kid started asking recruiter questions: Do I get any money for doing it? No. You have to join the army in order to get paid.
