Social Media Is Driving Polarization

The internet and many of the algorithms that funnel social media started with very good intentions to share information freely. But as eli describes that augarithmic encouragement, the finding the things that were already interested in and showing us more of that created the filter bubble. We are both intentionally creating some of these bubbles, and then also those bubbles are being facilitated by the technology around us. In other words, we are creating and allowing technology to move us into both physical and digital tribes.
