The Power of Mindfulness in Crisis
The chemical bodily reaction to an emotion such as fear or anger can pass in fewer than 90 seconds if you choose not to feed it. Walker calls this entering your battle rhythm, whereby you prepare your mind and body for a tense, lengthy negotiation. Mindfulness exercises such as box breathing and visualizing a successful outcome can also help boost resilience in the face of conflict. Much of Walker's advice wouldn't feel out of place on beloved mindfulness app headspace.
