When we think about constitutionalism of present day, right, the politics of the power of the state versus the rights of the individual, it's very different from what was going on in the thirties and the forties. We don't have the colonial power any more as an easy villain, which is why we also cannot merge nationalism with constitutionalism, because that tension is there. And somewhere in the midst of this, individual rights have to be negotiated, but that's a separate matter. So that's another reason that a low of the old historical material may not serve the purpose it is supposed to serve today.
