The Pentagon and the White House have not responded to families' concerns. The last US planes left Afghanistan on August 30, leaving billions of dollars worth of military equipment behind. A suicide bombing at Kabul Airport killed 13 service members and 170 civilians earlier this month. That attack was followed by a retaliatory strike that killed 10 people who we later learned had no involvement in the bombing including seven children.
