A Failure to Disagree
In a world in which neither adversary is likely to concede core points, it may be optimal for both of them to be wrong. In general, a common feature of all my experiences has been that the adversaries ended up on friendlier terms than they started. My most satisfying experience of adversarial collaboration was with Gary Klein. It took us six or seven years to write a paper that was titled A Failure to Disagree. People actually didn't want us to collaborate with Trust Strange.
