The History of the Wax Figures in the Churches
In the seventeenth century or sixteenth century funeral in france, you might expect to find a wax sculpture of the dead person. But apparently, wax was quite popular, and this practice continued until leopold the second banned the practice in 17 86. These boti, as they were known in the florentine vernacular, were present in nearly all churches in florence but in the church of the santisima ennunciata, they became a major feature.
