The cultural turn is a way of calculating what happens to marks his theory in the twentieth century. It stops this kind of rigid focus on just economic base and starts to try and take a more expansive view of exactly how capitalism has changed. The biggest cultural products are huge financial successes for massive, multi national corporate em companies. You can't consider culture as a kind of nebulous, autonomous, er realm of existence when you know it's so closely entwined with the economic means of production.
