Why Money Can't Buy Happiness

Baseball is at a unique place right now, where some of the highest spending teams have some of the worst records and are at risk of missing the playoffs. The New York Mets are the perfect example; they're going to spend over $350 million on salaries this year alone. But when you go and build teams through free agency, you're typically targeting older players who can either get injured or their production starts to decline. Why don't we see more money flowing into the farm teams where you've got really young guys and really horrible pay? A bismal shameful almost.
