CS 231N: The First Deep Learning Class at Stanford

In 2012, we had the first convolutional neural network give stunning performance on this image net benchmark in computer vision and image classification. And I happened to be in a place where I understood the technology. And I was very passionate about teaching and Fei-Fei approached me with the idea that, hey, we could start a class and actually teach people about this. It was probably the highlight of my PhD. But I felt like it was probably more impactful than getting a paper or two out to actually do this class and do a good job of it.
