Is the Jury System Getting Better at Reading X-Rays?
The jury system isn't just about accuracy it might be that it's about let's say human assessment that is not reducible to the accuracy question. The jury I sat on came in with a verdict of innocence for reasons which were associated with the reasonable down standard but also embedded an assortment of moral judgments that an algorithm may or may not be coded to make right. Larry and jihad if we all of a sudden start outsourcing serious questions about people's autonomy and freedom to computers I don't know that we are publicly ready to have that debate.
