What's the Future of Sleep?

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine's recommendation is that for adults, they get at least seven hours per night to maintain optimal adult health. "It's exciting, slash embarrassing about how much we don't know about sleep," he says. There are work going on here at UCSF around the genetics of sleep and following folks who are what are called familial short sleepers. And this has mostly been in the context of enhancing slow-wave sleep.
