Opinion polls in Australia show there's been a collapse in trust in China over the last five years. Both sides have identified key issues to work on, expressing their commitment to continue maintaining their 50-year strong bilateral ties. But while the Xi Albanese meeting was welcome, it will take a lot to rebuild ties. We've been a daggers drawn effectively and that's a big deal for us because China is by far our largest trading partner and our really most important economic partner.
