The Importance of Systems Approaches in Family Therapy

I do like systems theory because it helps me see the child or see the family in that bigger context. I use head assessments which I know not everyone uses when working with young people but I find heads assessments to be a good way of looking at children and their home environment. A lot of your work also involved communicating with the other services that were wrapping around the family yeah so what I found working with those families is that um people couldn't always make sense of what everyone was doingUm you know it's some roles that kind of easy to define is in you provide counseling but what are you really providing the counseling on to that family and how does then that fit in with the bigger picture?
