Japan's Meth Crisis

When the war came to an end, the former imperial government had massive stock piles of meth on hand. In two months in 19 54 alone, the national police agency linked 34 murders, so roughly one every other day, to meth atis. The mass quantities of the drug available, plus the legal market, led to spiraling addiction rates. And that combined with the still struggling economy, led to a massive increase in drug related crimes.
