The Fall of Constantinople
The only things that can save the Byzantine Empire is some kind of miracle, essentially, luck and the grace of God. But it had happened before multiple times. And so they believed it was indeed possible that they were going to be able to be saved. Then again, there were also all different kinds of ominous tales and prophecies that proclaimed that the fall of Constantinople would only occur when the emperor was called Constantine.
