The Diversity of Fungi

When we talk about fungi, most people think about mushrooms. But in reality the mushroom is just the fruiting body of a fungus. What you don't see when you see a mushroom perhaps sprouting out of the soil is kind of the acres of hyphae that actually grow underneath it and are the main body of the fungus itself. There's so many species and so many different types. Decaying fungi, the ones that kind of eat dead stuff and decompose it. You have pathogenic fungi, things that cause diseases. Mycorrhizal fungi - they form partnerships with plant roots and help plants to grow.
