The Failingness of the Week: San Francisco's Office of Emerging Technology
The city of San Francisco in its infinite wisdom has decided that what it needs to do is establish an office of emerging technology. They're going to have an office in it where tech companies can pitch their services. The office would coordinate the review with relevant departments and issue a notice to proceed if the net result was for the common good. I just have to think about that for a minute, but boggles the mind what might happen under such a regime.
