The Importance of Cigarettes in Flight Safety
The ban on smoking was first imposed in February 1990. It extended to all domestic and international flights in 2000. The pilots were still allowed to smoke after the 1990 ban. There were concerns about potential flight safety issues because of nicotine withdrawal in chronic smokers.
