The Big Bang - Is There a First Cause?

We have a pretty good picture of what happened when the universe was born. But there are still big questions about it, such as exactly how you define when it was born. And hanging over this whole question is the deeper philosophical question: Was there a first cause or do the causes just go back forever into the depths of time?
