The Anti-Papal Rhetoric of Henry VIII
The anti-papal rhetoric of Henry VIII was just recapitulating what certain English kings had done to suit their convenience in previous centuries. What he was capitalizing on was the powerful sense of loyalty to the monarchy in England. And if so the Pope was not and the Pope was claiming to be head of the church hence he must be anti-Christ. It's quite a simple piece of logic really, it's just a syllogism.
