The Relationship Between the Rangers and the Climbers

I actually fired Jim Bridwell from the rescue station. He was probably the world's best climber certainly at that time. So it was a pretty good relationship. I mean, as you say, there are some ups and downs, but basically. Rick Ocama also was a good guy. Lots of good partners in those days. Nice guys. That's a kind of a point of pride that you got to fire and rehire Jim Birdwell. It's my only claim to fame.
