The Trial of Jeffrey Gefor
Jeffrey Gefor was found guilty of murdering Lynette White in 2003. His trial took place at Cardiff Crown Court, a legal first for the UK. It was the first time in British criminal history where the real perpetrators had been tried and convicted after a previous miscarriage of justice. Police were given 600 names of people across Britain with similar DNA profiles - once without above all others. This partial match was made of the profile of a 14-year-old boy who had not even been born at the time of the murder. He worked nights, he slept most of the day and spent time on his computer. The exception was when he went out to car boot sales.
