In the eighties and nineties, i was trying to compose by constructing systems that made music for me. Steve rike'spiece, early tape pieces, were absolutely galvanized me. So from then on, om when i heard those ripe pieces onwards, i was starting to think of what i subsequently called generative music. It wasn't really a domesticly suitable ideaeoto ot either am no. He was too kind. By the way, this is peter chilvers, who made it with an ipod in his pocket. Now everybody has a computer in their pocket,. at last thing can existing in the way i've always thought it would.
