He says people have been kicking balls around for thousands of years; it's not something that was invented by one nation exactly. In England, a lot of people believe that England is the home of football: "I've got fairly good sort of reason for why football may have originated in England" But he doesn't think we were the first to kick a ball around - although there are some very old traditions involving medieval games.
