Apple has put so much, because Apple can do this, they have the resources and technical expertise to essentially write up a whole new operating system paradigm from scratch. If your operating system doesn't make it easy to render the frame rate very steadily, then it doesn't matter how good your hardware is but it's not the only factor here. I've found that when you're working on large projects, it's basically impossible to have really fast software unless you have one of two conditions.
