The New York Times just put out their top 10 books of the year and 100 books to read. We're in what I believe to be like a potentially an interesting moment in the calendar year for a book critic because it's list season. For us, for the daily critics, a lot of this process is very internal because it really is just what I've read and liked and what has stayed with me. But I end up asking the same question myself that we used to ask as a collective when I was an editor: What is best me?
