Joseph Smith's Autobiography
Joseph Smith wrote his first autobiography in 1832. He doesn't think it's very good, but I believe that he starts telling it orally around that time. Both times he writes it 1832 and 38. In the 1835 journal entry, which is simply his scribe capturing a spontaneous oral telling, Joseph Smith is so much more free. The pace is faster. And I think that that's the way he starts to do it by certainly by 1835,. But there are reasons to think that it's earlier than that.
