System One, System Two, and Money
System one is our unconscious, automatic and wildly associative part of us. System two is conscious, thoughtful and conscientious. These two processes are going on all the time, and we don't outgrow them. We often substitute system one for system two to tell ourselves how rational our decision was to get out of that stock when it went down but now it's back up again.
