The Evolution of Microbes
How long is the lifespan of a microbe and how long until it produces offspring? That seems like a really simple question, but we don't know that actually for microbes. There's different types of ways that microbes can look and these matter for the microbe being able to move around in their environment. And I guess from an agricultural perspective, do they perform sort of unique functions that are important for agriculture? So do they take nitrogen from the air and convert it into forms that plants can use? Or do they solubilize phosphorus so that plants can take advantage of that?
