James Cowan lost his wife of eight years, Julie, to suicide in September. She had a $250,000 life insurance policy that he filled out after the funeral was over. He told old friends she died of stomach cancer and Congenital kidney problem. It was a secret, he said, and a bombshell: Julie had committed suicide.
