Plato's Distinction of Rhetoric

In an early dialogue called the Gorgias, we certainly see Plato taking a very hostile view to rhetoric. And he expressed his suspicion in very vehement terms and set in trade in the idea that rhetoric could be merely manipulative or even lying. However, in a later dialogue, the feederus, we get Plato taking a slightly different view. He's keen that there could be an art of philosophic rhetoric, which is aimed at directing the souls of the audience towards the truth.
