Deliberate Ignorance in Law

In the American law system you cannot bring in a person's prior or criminal record into the decision-making process. This is different by the way in continental European traditional legal system where for instance in Germany you are allowed to bring that in because it's considered to be valuable information. So yes of course deliberate ignorance also plays an enormous role in institutional settings. Justicia is often depicted as the blind lady which is another like that symbolizes this idea that sometimes you need to blind yourself against certain pieces of information in order to be fair in your judgment.
