The Middle Ages and Gunpowder

i'm going to talk about these two technological revolutions and why they were significant, and also, in some respects, why they can be misunderstood or misrepresented. So as for printing, why did printing matter? Well, you might remember, especially in my first lecture, i mentioned the idea, the common notion, that the middle ages were an ignorant age. But this is not true. By far, the major limiting factor that made it difficult to reproduce and pass on knowledge in the mediaeval world was material it was technological. It was the fact that information and knowledge and history had to be kept in written texts,. That could break down over time, that were difficult and expensive to make.
